FinOps Optimisation

Transform Your Infrastructure for Speed, Quality, and Scalability

FinOps Optimisation

WWG FinOps optimisation is a cloud cost optimization service for CFOs, CTOs and IT leaders at European companies paying AWS, Google Cloud or Azure more than their infrastructure justifies. You upload your cloud spend data to our platform, receive within minutes a report listing the inefficiencies and the recommended changes, and WWG engineers help you carry them out and monitor that the savings hold over time.

Definition

What is FinOps

FinOps is the cloud financial management practice that brings finance, engineering and leadership together to make visible what each workload costs and to decide where to act. Cloud cost optimisation is its operational part: bills and resource usage are analysed, unused capacity, oversized resources and redundant services are identified, and the fixes are applied while performance and reliability are preserved.

The engagement

FinOps optimisation in concrete terms

Duration
Analysis within minutes of uploading the spend data. Implementation and monitoring with a duration set in scoping, according to the perimeter.
Start
With the spend and usage export from your cloud account, uploaded to our platform.
Who does the work
WWG engineers with cloud and DevOps experience, who read the report with you and assist in execution. A named owner follows the engagement.
What we need from you
Your cloud spend and usage data, one person who knows the infrastructure, access to the environments during implementation.
Output
A report with the inefficiencies found and actionable recommendations; the changes executed; monitoring of the results over time.
Format
Analysis at a fixed entry price; implementation and monitoring as separate, optional phases agreed after the report.

The analysis has a fixed entry price, with scaled options for larger infrastructures. Implementation and monitoring are quoted in scoping, based on the recommendations you decide to apply. We do not publish figures.

Comparison

FinOps optimisation and the alternatives

When the cloud bill grows, there are four options on the table and they answer different questions. This table says what each one does, so you choose according to who in your company has to read the data and who then has to act on it.

What you getA report a CFO can read, the changes executed by engineers, verification of the results.Charts and reports to interpret in-house.Continuous visibility; nobody executing on your behalf.Permanent internal control, at the cost of the people.
When it makes senseWhen cloud spend is significant and nobody has time to read it line by line. When the infrastructure is small and on a single provider. When you already have people who decide and only lack visibility. When cloud is central enough to justify full-time dedicated people.

FAQ

Questions & answers

FinOps means Financial Operations applied to the cloud: a practice that puts the people who pay the bills, the people who design the infrastructure and the people who decide investments in the same room, so that the cost of each workload is visible and spend that produces no value gets corrected. It is not a product but a way of working, with three recurring moments: inform, meaning measure and attribute costs; optimise, meaning fix the inefficiencies; operate, meaning keep control over time.
WWG's cloud cost optimisation covers five steps: assessment, where you upload your cloud spend data to our platform; analysis, where the platform identifies inefficiencies and generates optimisation strategies; results, a report with clear, actionable recommendations; implementation, where our engineers assist you in executing the changes; monitoring, with ongoing support to sustain the results and find further room for improvement. It covers AWS, Google Cloud and Azure.
The first results of cloud cost optimisation arrive with the report: once your spend data is uploaded, the platform returns the analysis within minutes and you can start applying the simplest recommendations right away. The actual saving on your bill depends on when the changes are executed, and the duration of the implementation phase is set in scoping, according to the size of your infrastructure and how many of the changes you decide to make with our help.
FinOps optimisation is priced on two separate models. The analysis has a fixed entry price, known before you start, with scaled options for larger infrastructures. Implementation of the changes and the monitoring that follows are quoted separately in scoping, based on the recommendations in the report that you decide to apply with our assistance. We do not publish a price list, because two companies with the same cloud spend can have very different room for improvement.
WWG engineers with cloud infrastructure and DevOps experience do the work: they read the platform's report, discuss it with you and assist you in executing the changes; a named owner follows the engagement from analysis to monitoring. From you we need the spend and usage export from your cloud account, one person who knows the infrastructure and, for the implementation phase, access to the environments where the changes are made.
Yes, the cloud cost optimisation service supports multi-cloud environments: we work with all major cloud platforms, including AWS, Google Cloud and Azure. In a multi-cloud setup the analysis is run per provider from each one's spend data, and the report highlights both the inefficiencies inside each platform and the duplications across platforms, which are often the least visible line of cost.
Confidentiality of your spend data is ensured by encryption in transit and at rest and by adherence to GDPR standards. The data you upload concerns bills and resource usage, not your customers' data or your application code. It is used only to produce your report, and on request we can formalise processing and retention in an agreement before we start.
If FinOps optimisation does not deliver the expected savings, the service carries a money-back guarantee on the analysis. In practice the risk is contained even earlier: the report arrives before any commitment to implementation, so you see the recommendations and their estimate before deciding whether to proceed. If the report finds no useful room for saving, you still have a picture of your spend and confirmation that the infrastructure is sized correctly.
After the report, you decide. You can apply the recommendations on your own with your team, have WWG engineers assist you through the implementation phase, or add ongoing monitoring to sustain the results and spot new room for saving as the infrastructure changes. Each further step is a separate agreement, with perimeter and price set in scoping, and is not tied to the initial analysis.
Cloud cost optimisation is for companies that pay AWS, Google Cloud or Azure every month without knowing precisely which part of the spend is really needed: CFOs watching the bill grow, CTOs and IT leaders who inherited an infrastructure sized years ago. It makes most sense when cloud spend is a significant line in the income statement and nobody in the company has the time to read it line by line.
FinOps as a tool is software, from the providers' native cost explorers to dedicated platforms, that shows where the spend goes. FinOps as a service, which is what this page is about, adds the people who read the data, decide the interventions and carry them out: our platform produces the analysis, WWG engineers turn it into changes on the infrastructure and verify the effect. The tool alone points at the problem; the service solves it.

Where cloud cost actually falls

Much of the bill follows how the machines are configured, which is the work of managed AWS servers and cloud infrastructure maintenance. When the cost comes from the software itself, it is system optimization consultancy.
